PM2.5 dust levels in 17 northern provinces hit "red level", close monitoring ordered

Mr. Phasakorn Boonyalak, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and Director-General/Secretary of the National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command, revealed that during the past week (17-23 March 2025), Thailand had a total of 7,278 accumulated hotspots. The areas with the highest number of hotspots were conservation forests, totaling 2,387 hotspots, and national reserve forests, totaling 2,369 hotspots. When compared to last year, the number of accumulated hotspots during the same period increased, and most of the hotspots were in forest areas. The 5 provinces with the highest accumulated hotspots were Mae Hong Son, Tak, Uttaradit, Chiang Mai, and Nan. In terms of hotspots in neighboring countries, Myanmar had 34,772 accumulated hotspots, Laos had 7,779 hotspots, Cambodia had 3,945 hotspots, and Vietnam had 3,141 hotspots.
